Benjamin surprises me in new ways every day. As a Mom, I am reminded that the words that I choose to say will find their way into his vocabulary. Here are a few recent instances for your enjoyment...
Ben says, "I am so proud of you Mommy." This was said at the dinner table while I was using my napkin. He says, "Oh Sugar or Piffle" when he drops something (I say Piffle for everything!). My favorites are "What's the matter, Mommy?" and "Please, may I get down please?" Instead of the typical toddler "NO", he says "No thank you, Mommy" (even in fits of temper, he's still polite).
His first "Why" came today during the All Saint's Service at St. Bart's. We were in the midst of the Communion and I am telling him about the people at the altar rail receiving the Bread and Wine. He says "Why". Oh Boy the stage of "Why's"! What Fun!
Each night he says prayers before going to bed. We say "God Bless" and he fills in the names. This is his typical Goodnight prayer, "God Bless Mommy and Daddy, God Bless the Cross, God Bless Jesus, and God Bless all Benjamin's Family and Friends. Amen" (He usually adds other names of family and friends after Jesus in his prayers).

Benjamin continues to amaze us with his words of wisdom. He is becoming very precocious and is really beginning to assert his will. Lisa and I made him get into the bath the other night and he was not happy about it. After we put him in, he said "that's not very fair Daddy."
Benjamin started "school" a few weeks ago. He goes to see Miss Carrie, his teacher, two mornings a week. He is learning lots of new songs, such as the Baby Bumble Bee song. Benjamin is making lots of new friends and having so much fun. The most exciting part of his nursery school is they incorporate "potty experience" time into their day. This and the training we are doing at home, will have him in his "big boy" Thomas the Tank Engine underwear in no time.
He also fully knows the Lord's Prayer, so I am thinking of teaching it to him in Greek. He has been talking in complete sentences and he can tell me all about his day when I get home from class. I really enjoy this and it gives me an incentive to get home rather than stay at the library.

Finally, we have made a special place for the "Chronicles of Benjamin". Ben amazes us in so many wonderful ways each day that we wanted to share them all with our friends and family. Whether it's something funny or truly inspirational, we will make note of it here.
Ben has not been himself for the past day or two as he is fighting off a cold. He had to stay inside and play quietly today. He seemed content to rest, read books, and watch Leap Frog and Baby Einstein. There was no "See friends Mommy?" or "Go outside Mommy?" like usual.
Bedtime is always full of fun things to share. After prayers and good night kisses, Townsend and I are usually in the "TV room" listening to Ben on the baby monitor. Tonight Ben was singing the "Go Gators" cheer which makes Townsend a very proud papa.
We have been challenged of late with Ben staying in his "Big Boy" bed. Tonight after sending him back to bed several times, I stationed myself outside his door ready for the next escape attempt. He is one smart toddler though, because somehow he knows that I am there. All of the sudden we hear this knock on his door and he says "Is anybody home?". Townsend and I could not suppress the laughter, it was just too cute.
